New S-line optical design
Fewer elements are used to greater effect in an optical design that boasts dual-sided aspherical lens elements and ED glass. Image quality is superb, and the lens is lighter.

It’s not macro, but it gets close
Work with an extremely short minimum focus distance of just 0.24 m at 24mm, and 0.33 m at 70mm. Maximum magnification is 0.21x at 24mm, and 0.32x at 70mm.

Two assignable L-fn buttons | Whether shooting horizontally or vertically, you'll find one right under your thumb.
Focus-limit switch | Limits the focus range to 0.33 m across the zoom range for a consistent working distance at all focal lengths.
Fluorine coating keeps it clean | A fluorine coating on the front element repels grime and makes the surface of the lens easy to clean.
HB-117 lens hood with filter window | There's no need to remove this hood if working with rotating filters. Handy if using variable ND filters for video.
77 mm filter ring | Accepts the same wide range of 77 mm filters as the NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 S lens. So now you can share your favourites.
